ABOUT

SANDRA HUGHES – NATURALIST, PHOTOGRAPHER AND BEEKEEPER

I was born in France and relocated to South Africa many years ago. I immediately fell in love with African nature and it’s wildlife and going back to my birthplace was no longer in my vision.  I decided to leave the corporate world in 2010 to follow my passion which was exploring and capturing the African bush and its wildlife. I have had the privilege to embrace numerous opportunities to explore African countries and more such as Zimbabwe, Botswana, Malawi, Mozambique, Kenya, Tanzania, Madagascar, Mauritius and South Africa.  In addition, I have been on a number of Photographic Safaris such as the Masa Mara in Kenya, the Serengeti, Ndutu, the Ngorongoro Crater in Tanzania and in Botswana.  I qualified as a Field Guide (FGASA) and I eagerly share the many unique and interesting facts I have accumulated over the years while discovering both rare and common species of animal and birdlife while ensuring that the best photographic opportunities can be achieved of the wildlife and birds in their natural habitats.

Being fully bilingual in French and English, I am accustomed to guiding French speaking groups, mostly in Botswana.

Honeybees are my other passion and I am a qualified beekeeper.  Bees are extremely important for our planet for life and nature to carry on been beautiful - we cannot live without bees -  Bees pollinate Food Crops and Wild Plants and of course produce delicious honey which comes with numerous health benefits.
